Camp Axes

– April 6-7 2024 –

In this two-day forging class you will use hammer and anvil to forge your own 2lb Hudson Bay or Michigan pattern axe. Each student will create their own complete axe under expert individual instruction.

This course teaches traditional methods of axe forging that do not require advanced tooling or industrial machinery. Along with the practical techniques of forging, you will learn axe history and development, and the essential design principles that distinguish a superior working tool.

All tools, materials and safety equipment are included.

Students should wear sturdy footwear and cotton or wool clothing. No Synthetics!

Lunch and hydration provided.

An intermediate-level course - basic forging experience recommended but not required.

Class runs 9am-5pm, Saturday-Sunday.
