The ancient alphabet of Scandinavia, and a direct ancestor of our own.

This set comprises the original, 24-character "Elder Futhark", the most ancient runes of all.

Each rune can be used phonetically as part of a word, or stand on its own - each has a distinct meaning unto itself. The total alphabet is referred to as a "Futhark", the word formed by the first six runes - Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raido and Kenaz.

These tiles are each about 7/8" x 1 1/8", and individually hand-forged. Once each tile is shaped, the rune is carefully cut in proper sequence, then the whole tile is lightly coated with beeswax to thwart rust. The forging and cutting of each rune gives the iron a rich texture without sharp edges or rough spots, and makes it utterly unique. Since each one is made at your request, rune tiles are available individually or as complete set. Each full set includes a sturdy leather pouch.

Use them for casting, divination, to fondle or as a reminder of the tremendous weight of history.
